North is up; the house is to the south, so the strip beside it sits in its shadow most of the day. The sun follows the real late-spring path at about 40°N. A path runs down the east side and a patio along the house; there's a mound (dashed) and a dip (dotted), and the tree's root zone is the dashed ring. After the weather comes 3 days of rain, then normal days. Values are scorch (0-1); "dead" cells need seed. The tree's canopy lets about a quarter of the light through. "Growth in a week" shows the uneven heights after a normal week: ~10 cm in full sun (dark) against ~7 cm in deep shade (light).
